Copy of BAW AWARDS 2026: FOUR CATEGORIES, ONE SHARED VISION

VALENCIA — The BioAgTech World Congress 2026 recognizes excellence through four distinct awards, each judged by independent multidisciplinary judges — global industry, research, regulatory and grower leaders who vote based on rigorous scientific and commercial criteria.

Here's what sets the BAW awards apart from the industry:

1. SUSTAINABLE GROWER AWARD

With an eye on farmers who have transformed their production systems with bioinputs, BAW Congress, through Syngenta, recognizes and honors documented leadership in real adoption that inspires change on a regional scale. The award examines the transformation journey, the sustainable practices demonstrated and the actual impact on the farm, communities and region (geographic scale and community reach). The judges—an independent committee of global industry leaders, researchers, regulators, and farmers—assess whether you've brought documented, replicable transformation—exactly the model that others can study, learn, and implement in their own contexts.

In 2025, Sartaj Khan was the awardee, with average yields of 72 metric tons per acre of cane — more than double the expected average of 30-40 tons in the region. With sustainable practices, intercultivation, and integrated management, Shahid Farms operates as a knowledge hub for local farmers.

Announced: Welcome Reception, April 7, 2026

2. EXCEPTIONAL BUSINESS LEADER AWARD

This award honors individuals who have fundamentally advanced the BioAgTech industry with lasting contributions, strategic vision, and proven execution — leaders who have not only grown an individual business, but moved the entire industry. It recognizes those who have promoted positive perception of BioAgTech in the critical balance between food safety and food security, and whose vision has inspired and accelerated global adoption of bioinputs as part of integrated and systemic solutions. This is an award for systemic leadership — the ability to transform markets, policies, and practices at scale.

Announced: April 8, 2026 (at the end of the day's regulatory session — an intentional timing that honors the political and business leadership essential to the industry's global transformation).

3. PIONEERING INNOVATION AWARD

Sponsored by BTU, this award celebrates innovators who have brought commercially viable and sustainability-driven solutions  that solve real food security and safety challenges through advances in BioAgTech. An Independent Scientific Committee conducts rigorous screening of papers, and the selected ones are presented live to an audience of 800+ delegates at Innovation Day (April 9th), where real-time voting takes place  via Congress App — the community of end users (farmers, agronomists, retailers, industry leaders) who know the real market vote during the presentations. The committee filters technical quality; The community chooses the real impact. The top 3 innovators are announced on the evening of April 9 at the Innovation Awards Ceremony.

At the 6th edition of the BAW Congress, Dr. Rahul Jog (BioPrime AgriSolutions) was recognized for developing next-generation biological inputs that enhance crop resilience, abiotic stress tolerance, and targeted delivery mechanisms — validated in 7+ regions and de-risked for investment.

4. POSTER AWARD

Sponsored by BTU, this award recognizes researchers, startups, and institutions with ongoing research and pre-commercial innovations shaping the future of BioAgTech. The posters are presented live for 5 minutes each on April 9 (mandatory attendance for evaluation), and then are displayed at the expo on the 8th and 9th — where they are seen by the entire strategic audience of the Congress: business delegates, industry leaders, investors, specialized journalists and decision makers.
